Falter Fans,

Hello and Happy May Day! We hope this finds you doing well and ready for the always-eventful month of May. Mother’s Day (an early Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there!), graduations and Memorial Day weekend, along with all the other goings-on make the month a fun and sometimes hectic one.

The start of the new month is also notable, as today, May 1st, marks our sixth anniversary. We could not be more thankful and appreciative for all of your support. We will continue to provide content and information about the life and work of the famed illustrator for which our museum and website is named, as well as promote, support and hopefully serve as a conduit for local artists and our community of Falls City. Again, thank you for these past six years and please mark your calendars for Saturday, July 10th, which is when we are planning to celebrate turning six; more details to come…

And now, the always-smooth transition from old business to new business (there’s a wry smile somewhere in there)…

We have a few exciting announcements we’d like to share, as some semblance of normal life is beginning to come into form…

  • Thursday, May 27th, will be the first day in nearly 18 months that our museum doors will open to the public. We will be open from 1-4 PM that day and again from 1-4 on Friday, the 28th. We will remain open by appointment only until then. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact us via email (curator@johnphilipfaltermuseum.com) or call our 402-450-3724, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

  • Museum Hours (beginning May 27th)

    • Thursdays — 11 AM to 4 PM

    • Fridays — 11 AM to 4 PM

    • Saturdays — 11 AM to 3 PM

    • Other days by appointment

  • Today also marks the beginning of the Nebraska Passport Program which is funded by the Nebraska Tourism Commission. The Passport Program, which is entering its twelfth year, runs from May 1 to September 30th. For more information about the program and to obtain your Passports, please click here.

  • "City of Art" celebration planned for later this Summer in Falls City. The event will be held to honor Merle Stalder and plans may include a downtown art walk, live jazz music, and food and drink. In October of 2019, the City Council of Falls City voted to approve a mayoral proclamation officially recognizing the community as a "City of Art." The Falls City Journal published a story about this historical proclamation on October 15th, 2019 and you can read it by clicking here.

In closing, it would behoove us not to acknowledge and thank our wonderful group of Docents, past and present, for all the volunteer hours they’ve given us. The museum would fail to function properly without their kindness and generosity and for that we say, thank you!

One final time, thank you to all our Falter Fans, near and far, for six terrific years and lets make the next six even better!

Cheers!

The John Philip Falter Museum, located in downtown Falls City, Nebraska, opened its doors on May 1, 2016.
