Falter Fans,

Hello, happy Friday and good afternoon from frigidly cold Southeast Nebraska! We hope this newsletter finds you all doing well, in good spirits and keeping safe and healthy.

With today being our late President Abraham Lincoln’ s birthday, Valentine’s Day on Sunday and celebrating our Presidents Monday, we thought it would be a great time to check in and update our loyal fans on a few fun and interesting things, John P. Falter-related.

Today, the Twelfth of February, would be "Honest Abe’s" 212th birthday, as the late great President was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on this day in 1809 —or if you are keeping score at home, that’s 10 score and 12 years ago.

President Lincoln was a favorite of John P. Falter’s and one of his favorite projects was illustrating a special edition of Carl Sandburg’s Abraham Lincoln – The Prairie Years.

In celebration of the former President, we are running a special on the two prints currently available at the Falter Museum in Falls City.

Falter’s print, Lincoln Reading Gladstone, is sized at 16.5 inches tall by 20 inches wide and available in either a non-signed version for $50 or $95 for a signed print.

The second print in our special is titled, “Tuesday, August 11, 1859, 9 a.m.” It is 13 inches by 15 inches and is available for $40.

These specials are for Falter Fans in the Falls City and local surrounding area, due to the Covid-19 virus. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this tough time. We are grateful for and appreciative of your continued support.

In closing, there are two more items of note and we hope you will help us by raising a glass to Falter on the 28th of this month. Our beloved Nebraskan was born on February 28th, 1910 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and in 1916 moved with his family to Falls City, where his father, George H. Falter, established a clothing store.

The second item of note involves one of our country’s national treasures and the United States’ first magazine of record, The Saturday Evening Post, turns 200 years old in 2021. Please consider supporting this periodical. They are currently offering a subscription for only $15 that includes the print issue delivered to your mailbox every two months (6 issues a year), the digital issue delivered to your mobile device via The Saturday Evening Post app (6 issues a year), and web access to our online archive. Click here to view the subscription information on their website.

Lastly, the Museum will continue to be closed until further notice. Please reach out with an email or phone call if you have any questions, comments, kudos or concerns. Our Curator, Dobey (Falter) Haws can be reached at 402-450-3724 and via email, curator@johnphilipfaltermuseum.com
